Maison Jeroboam: A Guest House in the Heart of the Médoc

There are places that seem to have been shaped by time to welcome, comfort, and enchant. This is the promise of Maison Jeroboam. Nestled in the heart of the Saint Estephe vineyards, our charming 18th-century residence opens its doors to you with hospitality and generosity. Here, ancient stones meet modern comforts, and every corner tells a story.

Welcome to a place where authenticity is synonymous with luxury.

Maison Jeroboam: A charming residence in the heart of Saint Estephe

Welcome to a house that has stood the test of time without losing an ounce of its soul. Built in 1790 in the hamlet of Canteloup, facing the vineyards of Château Calon Segur and the majestic entrance to Château Phelan Segur, Maison Jeroboam is much more than just a place to stay. It is a historic residence, steeped in the winemaking history of the Medoc, completely renovated to offer its guests the best of both worlds: the authenticity of a building over 200 years old and the comfort of contemporary boutique accommodation.

Its name? That of a 5-liter bottle: a generous nod to the Bordeaux vineyards that surround it and of which it has always been a privileged witness.

A story rooted in the Médoc heritage

Before becoming one of the region’s most renowned charming guesthouses, La Maison Jeroboam had many lives. Its outbuildings once housed the winemakers’ dining room and storage areas for winemaking equipment. The barn, now converted into a bright breakfast room, was once a stable.

The current Château Phelan Segur room occupied a hayloft. As for the swimming pool, it occupies the former woodshed, whose partially preserved walls now form a natural haven around the heated saltwater pool.

Every stone, every beam, every antique floorboard tells this story. By choosing La Maison Jeroboam, you’re not simply booking a guesthouse room: you’re stepping into a piece of heritage.

Ideally located equidistant between the Saint Estephe Town Hall (housed in the former Château Canteloup) and the Saint Etienne Church, a listed historical monument since 1995, the house fits naturally into the lively heart of this authentic Medoc village.

An exceptional setting between vineyards and the estuary

Perched 30 meters above the Gironde estuary, La Maison Jeroboam offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the vineyards and the estuary, one of the most beautiful vistas in the Medoc. Rows of vines stretch as far as the eye can see in a region where everyone lives in harmony with the seasons and the upcoming grape harvest.

Just an hour from Bordeaux and its renowned UNESCO World Heritage sites, our guesthouse in Saint Estephe is the ideal starting point for exploring the Médoc wine route, discovering listed châteaux, or simply recharging in a pristine environment between vineyards and the Atlantic Ocean. The guesthouse can accommodate up to 14 people, making it ideal for group stays, wine tours, or retreats with friends.

The house is surrounded by some of the most prestigious castles in the Saint Estephe appellation: Calon Ségur, Phelan Segur, Montrose, Tronquoy or Haut-Marbuzet and is in itself an invitation to discover the great wines of Bordeaux.

Comfort, Refinement & Well-being

Completely renovated while respecting its original character, La Maison Jeroboam elegantly blends old-world charm with the demands of modern comfort. Antique patinated parquet floors, period fireplaces, carefully curated décor, and spacious, light-filled rooms—everything has been designed for the comfort of our guests, ensuring they feel right at home while enjoying high-end hotel services.

Recently enhanced with an indoor relaxation area featuring a therapeutic spa, the house invites you to a true wellness retreat in the heart of the Medoc Vert. Let yourself be enveloped by the warmth of the spa, extend your relaxation by the heated saltwater pool, and let the tranquility of the vineyards do the rest. It is here, in this gentle way of life so characteristic of the Bordeaux wine region, that the word “rest” takes on its full meaning.

Maison Jeroboam is proud to announce that we have received several quality awards. These distinctions, which honor us, place Maison Jeroboam at the top of its category and guarantee you a truly exceptional stay.

These awards are granted by Gironde Tourisme and Bordeaux Wine Tour, based on location, services, comfort, quality, and also the preservation of the building’s authenticity. These are criteria that are very important to us and ensure you stay in charming accommodations with preserved features, while enjoying all the modern comforts.
